Job summary

The New Jersey Symphony seeks one IATSE crew member to serve as Head Props for all New Jersey Symphony events in which the orchestra is present, under a Pink Contract. This full-time exempt position is based at the Newark office with Jersey City as the future Symphony Center location.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Artistic Operations, meeting musician needs across NJ venues, submitting Yellow Card requests, supervising stagehands, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of stagehand experience within an arts organization, preferably in a leadership capacity.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Must have a personal vehicle; mileage and tolls reimbursed.
• Current driver’s license with clean history; box truck experience preferred.
• Ability to diplomatically handle a wide variety of personalities.

Responsibilities

• Meet musician needs at multiple venues across NJ.
• Understand and anticipate the needs of musicians, guest artists, and conductors.
• Submit Yellow Card requests to IATSE business agents before calls.
• Maintain smooth flow of production information between Operations and venue staff.
• Transport equipment to and from storage and venues; operate a 24' truck.
• Supervise and assist local stagehands during load-in and setup.
• Maintain equipment and inform staff of issues.
• Set up refreshments in the orchestra lounge and manage supplies.
• Transport library music to NJPAC and other venues as directed.
• Be present during rehearsals and performances; fulfill other duties as assigned.
