Job summary

The New School's College of Performing Arts is seeking an Overhire Props Artisan to join the Performance Operations – Props Department. This on-campus, as-needed role focuses on prop builds, alterations, and sourcing for performances across multiple schools within CoPA.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of props experience, strong carpentry and sewing skills, and proficiency with Google Suite, Office, Workday, and Photoshop.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience in theatrical properties.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work productively under tight time and space constraints.
• Comfortable with power tools and working at heights.
• Strong carpentry, sewing, and upholstery skills.
• Familiar with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Workday, and Adobe Photoshop.

Responsibilities

• Act as an artisan on show builds and alterations.
• Develop familiarity with to-do lists, prop lists, and project paperwork.
• Able to represent Production during tech rehearsals.
• Travel to vendors or storage locations to procure supplies and materials.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
