Job summary

23XI Racing is seeking a Head Pit Coach to lead and develop pit crew teams for NASCAR Cup Series stops, training members to perform at a high competitive level.

You will recruit, schedule, and coach across performance metrics, manage film review, practice sessions, and coordination with healthcare providers for pit crew support.

The role requires travel to races, strong leadership, and ability to drive execution while sustaining teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education and/or training preferred.
  • Two years of college and/or professional sports coaching experience mandatory.
  • Availability to travel to as many as 18 NASCAR Cup Series races per race season required.
  • Availability to support pit crews from afar during NASCAR Cup Series race weekends not traveled required.
  • Proficiency with computers including familiarity with usage of web-based applications, two-point authentication, and Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Strong management and leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the choreography of NASCAR pit stops including individual techniques and workflow preferred.
  • Knowledge of NASCAR rules and regulations preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule required.
  • Ability to assess and react to situations in a fast-paced stressful environment required.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with executive management as well as personnel of all levels required.
  • Ability to identify and propose solutions to complex issues required.
  • Understanding of supporting business processes and models required.
  • Passion and focus to think strategically while enabling operations required.
  • Ability to drive execution and results required.
  • Ability to lead teams and generate a spirit of cooperation required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership that reflects the mission statement and core values of 23XI Racing.
  • Assemble pit crew teams using individual performance metrics and a keen understanding of team chemistry and dynamics alike.
  • Identify and recruit potential pit crew members who will further the success and growth of the department.
  • Set performance goals for individual players and teams.
  • Identify factors limiting pit crews’ performance through film review and analytical breakdowns on a weekly basis. Quantify limitations for pit crew members by sharing metrics in documented dashboard form and illustrate by reviewing film. Communicate positive attributes, areas to improve, and instruction for individuals and teams during film review and practice sessions.
  • Establish and communicate film review, physical training, and practice schedules for pit crews and behind-the-wall support staff.
  • Plan and lead practice sessions; Tailor practice sessions to target specific areas of improvement for pit crews. Provide pit crew members with supervision and instruction during all sessions.
  • Develop, implement, and critique individual and team choreographies.
  • Hold players accountable to achieve department goals through the successes of their teams.
  • Utilize all means possible to promote a spirit of unity and teamwork within the department and the company all the while challenging performance barriers and improving overall team performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain all professional relationships with healthcare providers and partnerships who provide services for 23XI Racing pit crew department.

Position Overview

The Head Pit Coach will train pit crew members and teams alike to perform NASCAR Cup Series pit stops at a highly competitive level. Primary responsibilities include identifying, attracting, recruiting, training, and retaining high performing pit crew members for all 23XI Racing teams. The Pit Coach will develop and implement strategic objectives to improve pit crew and behind-the-wall support performance aimed at minimizing stop time and errors.

  • Be and remain familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within NASCAR.
  • Insure the equitable treatment of employees in disciplinary actions and employment activities.
  • Preserve and maintain fitness and training facilities used by 23XI pit department to a level equal or greater than when entered.
  • Other duties assigned by Manager.
