Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR motorsports operation, is seeking an experienced, highly motivated 5‑lug Pit Coach.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a pit coaching environment or 5‑lug pit experience, and the ability to manage, motivate, and lead others while working within an extremely fast‑paced environment. The position requires strong communication, a flexible work schedule, the ability to travel, and an excellent ability to implement and execute.
Position Summary
Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating pit crew practices. The coach works to ensure a high level of training is achieved covering all aspects of fitness and performance.
Essential Functions
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice for pit crew members.
- Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare pit performers for race events.
- Document and update individual and team goals.
- Oversee all aspects of the pit crew, including growth and development of pit performers.
- Analyze film footage from recent pit stop performances and produce detailed reports on improvement opportunities.
- Scout and recruit high‑performance pit performers on an ongoing basis.
Skills & Abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in a pit coaching or 5‑lug pit environment.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills; experience with sports video editing systems such as DVSport.
- Certifications & Licenses: CPR and First Aid preferred.
- Other Requirements: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; outstanding execution and implementation; strong problem‑solving abilities; team player with ability to inspire others; high level of integrity; extensive knowledge in nutrition, coaching, and physical training; flexible schedule and travel as needed.
