Job summary

Bausch + Lomb is seeking a Head of Technology, Digital Health Services, the company’s first technical hire for a new AI-driven health platform. You will set architecture, select technology partners, and shape engineering culture from day one, working closely with the Product leader to deliver pre-operative education tools.

You will own the end-to-end technical stack, drive cloud decisions, and ensure HIPAA compliance, data governance, and real-world evidence generation as the product expands

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with senior leadership and end-to-end architecture ownership (CTO/VP Engineering)
• Proven track record delivering a product from early architecture to live, scalable production
• Genuine builder mentality; hands-on coding when needed before the team forms
• Deep experience with AI/ML systems in production
• Strong command of modern cloud architecture and scalable API design
• Experience in regulated environments with HIPAA/BAA and patient data governance
• Ability to engage clinical stakeholders and non-engineering leaders effectively

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI/ML systems, data platform, security, and scalability
• Lead build-vs-buy-vs-partner decisions for core tech components
• Architect for EHR interoperability and HL7 FHIR compliance from day one
• Design patient-facing architecture scalable across the eye care continuum
• Own data governance, HIPAA compliance, audit logging, and access controls
• Lead governance for AI, model explainability, bias evaluation, and audit trails
• Partner with Product for roadmap prioritization grounded in clinical and commercial outcomes
• Ensure reliable product shipping with uptime, latency, and incident response ownership
• Instrument telemetry and data capture to support continuous improvement
• Represent technical credibility with clinicians, leadership, and partners
• Set engineering culture, standards, and scalable growth practices
