Job summary

Bausch + Lomb in Boston area is seeking a Head of Technology for Digital Health Services. This founding role will set the architecture, select technology partners, and build the engineering culture from day one.

You will own cloud, AI/ML systems, data platform, and compliance with HIPAA and HL7 FHIR. This hands-on leadership role reports to the President, Digital Health Services and requires startup-like execution.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience in a senior technical leadership role
Proven track record taking a product from architecture to live in production
Hands-on builder mindset with ability to code when needed
Deep experience with AI/ML systems in production
Strong cloud architecture and API design experience at scale
Experience in regulated healthcare environments and data governance

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end technical architecture across cloud, AI/ML, data platform, security, and scalability
Lead build-vs-buy decisions and partner evaluations for core technology
Select and manage initial development partners and formalize relationships
Architect for EHR interoperability and HL7 FHIR compliance from day one
Design patient-facing architecture with scalability for the eye care continuum
Own data governance, HIPAA compliance, audit logging, and access controls
Partner with Head of Product to align technical decisions with clinical and commercial goals
Represent technical credibility to clinicians, leadership, and external partners
Lead AI governance, model explainability, and data platform strategy
