Job summary

Liquid Robotics is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager in Jessup, MD to lead a multi-disciplinary team developing autonomous ocean robots. You will guide engineers across mechanical, electrical, and software domains for Wave Glider platforms and payloads.

You will translate customer and business needs into viable solutions, manage schedules and budgets, and own the Systems Engineering process to drive robust, verifiable designs. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10 years of engineering experience, including cross-discipline or system-level work.
  • 3 years of management experience with a range of junior to senior staff.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with the Liquid Robotics Wave Glider system is a strong discriminator.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the systems engineering work within the company.
  • Lead and develop a team of Systems Engineers of varying skills and levels.
  • Translate customer and business needs into viable, proven solutions within time and funding limits.
  • Define schedules, budgets, and solutions for proposals and internal development; develop risk analyses.
  • Manage system and subsystem requirements and interfaces; define and refine system models and architectures; prepare documentation.
  • Create test plans and procedures; support test execution and report development.
  • Develop and execute trade studies and prototype analyses; resolve cross-discipline issues.
  • Guide best practices of structured systems engineering and own the engineering process.
