Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking an Executive Director-level leader to design, govern, and strengthen supervisory activity oversight across the Americas Division, including Global Markets, Capital Markets and Banking. You will partner with Front Office, Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, and Internal Audit to drive remediation and embed robust supervision into day-to-day execution.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Global Markets risk/controls or related field.
• Executive-level leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with supervisory procedures, desk reviews, and escalation protocols.
• Ability to produce governance reporting for senior management.
• Strong communication and credible challenge skills.
• Experience handling regulatory inquiries and remediation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Set supervisory strategy and translate enterprise risk expectations into practical standards and routines for Front Office execution.
• Lead end-to-end assessment of supervisory activities across the trade lifecycle, including onboarding, execution, monitoring, and reporting controls.
• Provide senior advisory support to Front Office supervisors on procedure design, desk review routines, escalation practices, and remediation plans.
• Oversee execution of supervisory control assessments, QA reviews, issue management, and remediation validation.
• Embed supervisory risk considerations into daily business processes and governance reporting for senior management.
