Job summary

Alley Theatre in Houston is seeking a Chief Development Officer who will lead a comprehensive, strategic fundraising program and advance annual and long-range philanthropic goals. The CDO will partner with senior leadership, the Board, and donors to move the organization toward a more relationship-based funding model.

Qualifications

• Significant progressive fundraising leadership experience, including multi-million-dollar goals.
• Proven track record of closing major gifts and managing teams.
• Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
• Experience working with boards, volunteers, and senior executives.
• Knowledge of Houston philanthropic landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set and implement the Alley’s overall fundraising strategy.
• Develop a multi-year development plan to strengthen donor pipelines and revenue channels.
• Balance events with sustained donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
• Collaborate across departments to align fundraising priorities with institutional goals.
• Lead and coach the Development Department and create a high-performance culture.
• Manage major gift solicitation and donor recognition programs.
• Oversee stewardship, events and donor engagement activities.
• Provide regular progress reporting to the Managing Director and Board.
