Job summary

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising strategy and a comprehensive development program beyond $6M annual contributed revenue and a major $185M+ capital campaign. The CDO will partner with senior leaders, the UDO, and our boards to drive philanthropic growth and strategic initiatives on campus and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 15+ years nonprofit fundraising with increasing responsibility.
• Proven leadership of diverse development teams.
• Experience guiding capital campaigns and major gifts.
• Strong knowledge of Harvard policies and governance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy to grow contributed revenue.
• Lead and manage the development team and collaborate with university partners.
• Oversee six to seven-figure gifts, donor relations, and campaign planning.
• Partner with boards to identify, recruit, and steward donors.
• Ensure compliance with gift policies and reporting.
