Job description

Head of Strategic Deployments & Operations

Healthcare AI | Payer Programmes | Strategic Delivery

About the Role

A healthcare technology company is building AI-powered patient engagement programmes for health plans and healthcare providers, focused on closing care gaps, automating scheduling and reducing missed appointments.

These programmes go beyond traditional software implementations. Each deployment combines AI agents, clinical workflows, nurse outreach and payer-specific quality objectives to deliver measurable improvements in patient engagement and healthcare outcomes.

As Head of Strategic Deployments & Operations, you will own how these programmes are designed, launched and operated. This is a hands-on, player-coach position, with approximately 50% of your time spent leading complex payer deployments and the remaining 50% focused on building and managing the team, processes and operating model needed to scale delivery.

You will be responsible for three core areas:

  • Programme Design & Management: Ensuring campaign workflows are correctly designed, clinically appropriate and aligned with the outcomes health plans are targeting.
  • Campaign Quality: Establishing the standards, measurement frameworks and quality assurance processes required to maintain campaign performance.
  • Nurse Operations: Owning staffing models, clinical protocols, escalation processes and operational throughput where nurse-led workflows are involved.

You will work closely with implementation managers, engineers, product managers, customer success teams and clinical specialists. You will also act as a trusted operational partner to senior stakeholders across payer Quality, Stars, Care Management and Operations.

The role reports directly to the COO.

What You'll Do
Programme Design & Strategic Deployments
  • Lead end-to-end deployment of high-value payer programmes, from initial scoping and workflow design through development, launch and ongoing operations.
  • Establish clear ownership, delivery milestones and measurable success criteria for each deployment.
  • Translate health plan priorities, including HEDIS and Stars measures, care gap targets, member experience and compliance requirements, into actionable programme designs.
  • Define target populations, outreach sequencing, communication channels, AI agent and nurse handoffs, and escalation logic.
  • Act as the final reviewer of workflow designs before launch, ensuring solutions align with payer requirements and support by the available data.
  • Guide stakeholders across operations, clinical, IT, compliance and executive teams through implementation, change management and adoption.
