Job summary

ProCaps Labs seeks a Director of Research & Science to drive the scientific strategy for dietary supplements and ingredients. You will oversee literature reviews, evidence grading, and substantiation while coordinating with Product Development, Regulatory, and Marketing to ensure compliant, credible communications.

You will guide a team of scientists and technical writers, translate complex science into actionable recommendations, and ensure safety, efficacy, and quality throughout the product

Qualifications

• Requires advanced degree with years of relevant industry experience; PhD preferred.
• Leads and develops scientists, analysts, and technical writers.
• Expertise in literature reviews, evidence grading, and substantiation.
• Experience with FDA, FTC, DSHEA labeling and dietary supplement regulations.
• Strong regulatory knowledge for dietary supplements, food, cosmetics.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects in fast-paced cross-functional settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead scientific strategy for dietary supplements, aligning with vision, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide scientific leadership to executives on ingredient selection, dosing, safety, claims, and portfolio opportunities.
• Direct and develop scientists and technical staff; set priorities and standards.
• Build an evidence-based review process ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
• Critically evaluate literature for quality, relevance, and strength of evidence.
• Prepare briefs, assessments, and executive recommendations highlighting evidence and risk.
• Partner with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, Manufacturing, Marketing, and leadership to translate science into product concepts.

Education

Master’s degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related

Bachelor’s degree + 10+ years industry experience

PhD with nutraceutical industry experience (preferred)

5+ years leadership directing research/science content

Experience leading scientists/analysts/technical writers

Literature reviews, evidence grading, and substantiation

FDA/FTC/DSHEA labeling and claims experience

Regulatory knowledge for dietary supplements, food, cosmetics

Project prioritization and cross-functional leadership
