Job summary

The City School District of New Rochelle seeks a Director of Guidance to lead and coordinate secondary school counseling services. You will supervise counselors, develop the 6-12 comprehensive guidance plan, and ensure effective program delivery and family engagement.

In collaboration with district leadership, you will oversee scheduling, testing coordination, and the transition support for students, including those from home schooling, while aligning with district goals and budget processes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or closely related field is required.
• New York State SDA or SDL certificate at time of application.
• Direct service history with school counselors is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the delivery of guidance and counseling services at the secondary level.
• Supervise, support, and evaluate middle and high school counselors and other guidance staff.
• Maintain and monitor counselor caseloads throughout the year.
• Plan an annual middle school and high school calendar of events aligned with the 6-12 comprehensive guidance plan.
• Screen new high school registrants and schedule success plan meetings with building leaders.
• Support transitions of students enrolling from home schooling.
• Facilitate communication among pupil personnel services teams for students with special needs.
• Coordinate multiple district initiatives and programs (e.g., BOCES).
• Collaborate on master scheduling and course offerings.
• Manage standardized testing administration (AP, SAT, ACT).
• Oversee graduation data, transcripts, and annual district reporting.
