Job summary

Ferguson Electric seeks a Director of Safety in Buffalo, NY to lead the company’s safety program across all projects and operations. You will plan, direct, and implement safety initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for employees, clients, subcontractors, and the public.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety or related field, 10+ years of safety experience in construction or electrical contracting, and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field.
• 10+ years of occupational health and safety experience, preferably in the construction or electrical contracting industry with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Safety certification is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with safety management software or systems.
• Basic knowledge of asset management/work order systems or GIS applications is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to engage with employees, subcontractors, and management.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
• Proactive problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail and accountability.
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety practices.
• Ability to conduct field inspections and training sessions in various work environments.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage all company safety policies.
• Oversee the safety management system and drive safety goals, objectives, and KPIs.
• Manage and maintain company safety records, safety manuals, documents, and customer portals.
• Oversee and maintain company PPE.
• Provide project/bid specific safety plans and documents.
• Oversee field safety implementation across projects.
• Lead the corporate Safety team.
• Inform and connect customers to all services Ferguson Electric offers.
