Job summary

LMK Recruiting Solutions in New York City seeks a Director of Safety to build systems, training, and culture that prevent incidents across our high-rise and mid-rise portfolio.

The role leads safety programs, OSHA compliance, training, metrics, incident investigations, and coordination with insurers and regulators. Expect leadership in developing safety standards and staffing safety managers across projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive safety leadership in NYC construction.
• Proven experience building or significantly overhauling a safety program at the organizational level.
• Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, NYC DOB requirements, and Local Law 196 site safety training compliance.
• Strong training and curriculum development skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continually improve company-wide safety programs, policies, and SOPs across all active high-rise and mid-rise projects.
• Build and deliver structured safety training curricula for site safety managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and new hires.
• Develop leading safety metrics and reporting systems to identify risk trends before incidents occur.
• Establish clear incident investigation and root-cause analysis protocols for site teams to execute independently.
• Own OSHA compliance strategy, DOB safety filings, and Local Law 196 site safety training compliance.
• Partner with executives during preconstruction to include safety in project plans from day one.
• Manage relationships with insurance carriers, workers' comp providers, and regulatory agencies.
• Build and maintain a bench of qualified site safety managers and provide ongoing development.
• Conduct program audits to ensure site teams are applying safety standards and adjust as needed.
• Track regulatory changes and update company policy ahead of deadlines.
