Job summary

WGI seeks a Director, Remote Sensing to lead our Remote Sensing Department within the Geospatial Division. This senior role oversees staffing, technology, QA/QC, and project delivery for airborne LiDAR and imagery programs, coordinating with project managers and other geospatial disciplines.

The role combines strategic, operational, and technical leadership, driving production quality, capacity planning, and ongoing innovation in remote sensing technologies while traveling to support operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, Geography, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in LiDAR, photogrammetry, remote sensing, surveying, mapping, or related geospatial disciplines, with significant experience leading technical teams and complex projects.
• Strong working knowledge of airborne LiDAR and imagery acquisition and production; also covers GNSS/IMU trajectory processing, sensor calibration, boresight adjustment, and QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operations of WGI's Remote Sensing Department, including staffing, capacity, equipment, and production planning.
• Provide technical oversight for airborne LiDAR and imagery programs and ensure safe, efficient acquisition.
• Direct workflows for airborne, mobile, terrestrial, and UAS LiDAR and imagery production from processing to delivery.
• Develop and maintain QA/QC procedures across acquisition and production lifecycles with regular audits.
• Manage department budgets, staffing plans, and equipment utilization to meet project demands.
• Support business development with technical proposals, scopes of work, and client meetings.
• Promote automation, batch processing, and standardized workflows to improve throughput.
• Mentor staff, build leadership depth, and establish clear career paths.
• Ensure safety compliance across airborne, field, and UAS operations.
