Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is hiring a Reliability Engineering Lead in California to drive reliability-by-design across power electronics products, from concept through field deployment.

You will own the reliability strategy, partner with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware/Software, Quality, Product, and Commercial teams, and ensure design targets meet warranty and lifecycle cost goals. The role emphasizes leadership, first-principles engineering, and scaling a reliability function as the company grows,

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of PoF and DFR methodologies with failure mechanisms understanding.
• Experience deriving mission profiles and translating to ALT calculations.
• Ability to set reliability requirements considering cost, schedule, risk.
• Strong skills in Weibull, FMEA, FTA, and data-driven decision making.
• Proven cross-functional collaboration with multiple engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Define reliability requirements balancing target reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Set corporate reliability strategy and align product/manufacturing teams with goals.
• Apply PoF and DFR across the product lifecycle to mitigate failures early.
• Derive mission profiles and translate to accelerated life test plans.
• Develop reliability models (Weibull, lifetime distributions, FMEA/FTA).
• Own field reliability strategy linking data to design/test assumptions.
• Define warranty terms with Product/Commercial teams; manage lifecycle cost.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware/Software, QA teams.
• Mentor or lead a reliability engineering team; review ALT plans and findings.
