Job summary

Mt. Prospect Park District is seeking a dedicated Superintendent of Recreation to lead RecPlex operations across Aquatics, Athletics, and Fitness.

This role directs multiple supervisors, develops budgets, and drives strategic programs to serve a diverse community in Mount Prospect, IL. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in recreation-related field with 5+ years of supervisory experience, strong budget skills, and a commitment to safety and staff development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration/Leisure Studies; CPRP preferred.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience in recreation, with aquatics, athletics, and fitness management.
• Strong budgeting, leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Current driver’s license and ability to pass background checks; CPR/AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead RecPlex operations for Aquatics, Athletics, and Fitness to meet community needs.
• Supervise RecPlex Facility Supervisor, Athletics Supervisor, Aquatics Manager, and Fitness Supervisor.
• Develop annual operating budgets and long-range financial plans.
• Monitor program registrations, memberships, and revenue; ensure financial sustainability.
• Oversee risk management, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate staffing, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
• Collaborate with District departments and community partners.
• Prepare reports for Director, Executive Director, and Board.
