Uber Design seeks a Creative Director to lead the Product Expression team, shaping how Uber comes to life through illustration, motion, and visual storytelling across products. You will drive a multi-disciplinary team, prototype concepts, and set high craft standards while collaborating with Design Systems and Brand to scale expression globally.

The role combines hands-on work with strategic direction, requiring strong craft, systems thinking, and the ability to influence within a matrix

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in creative direction and leading teams.
• Experience leading creative direction for large-scale digital products, brands, or experiences.
• Portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft across motion, Illustration, visual design, or interactive experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on while guiding and elevating others.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to align creative and non-creative stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define Uber's product expression across illustration, motion, visual storytelling, and moments of delight.
• Set an exceptional bar for craft and help teams reach it without sacrificing speed or scalability.
• Be a hands-on creative leader, prototyping ideas and directing visual and motion work with designers.
• Lead and grow the Expression team, fostering a culture of experimentation and high craftsmanship.
• Create reusable systems and principles that scale across products, teams, and markets.
• Partner with Product Design and Design Systems to integrate expression into the product experience.
• Navigate a matrix organization and build alignment across Product, Brand, Marketing, Engineering, and Design.
• Connect Brand and Product to translate Uber's brand into product experiences.
• Lead through influence, advocating for quality while inviting critique.
