Job summary

Uber Design is seeking a Creative Director to lead our Product Expression team, defining how Uber comes to life through illustration, motion, design language, visual storytelling, and moments of delight across products.

This senior role blends strategic direction with hands-on craft, guiding a multidisciplinary team, prototyping new concepts, and building scalable systems that unify brand and product experiences across a global product ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in creative direction, product design, visual design, motion design, illustration, or related disciplines.
• Significant experience leading creative teams and setting creative direction for large-scale digital products, brands, or experiences.
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft and creative leadership across multiple forms of expression, with particular strength in areas such as motion, illustration, visual design, or interactive experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to remain hands-on while leading and elevating the work of others.
• Exceptional visual, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate creative decisions and build alignment with both creative and non-creative audiences.

Responsibilities

• Define Uber’s product expression by establishing a clear creative vision across illustration, motion, and storytelling.
• Set an exceptional bar for craft to ensure speed and scale.
• Be a hands-on creative leader, prototyping ideas alongside designers.
• Lead and grow the Expression team with coaching and a culture of critique.
• Create reusable systems, patterns, tools, and principles at scale.
