Job summary

Govineer is hiring a Head of Product Engineering to lead engineers across government-focused products and new staff and resident experiences. You will collaborate with the Head of Product and Head of Platform to improve outcomes, deliver reusable APIs, and modernize systems with deliberate, secure design choices.

You will discuss architecture with engineers, product value with customers, and tradeoffs with executives, using AI to improve engineering while maintaining human accountability for

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping and operating customer-facing software.
• Evidence of building effective teams and improving delivery without compromising quality.
• Fluency across modern full-stack engineering, APIs, cloud systems, and practical AI/ML use in products.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering from discovery to launch and iteration across multiple product lines.
• Build small accountable teams with strong technical leads and clear missions.
• Modernize legacy applications with careful migration while serving existing customers.
• Define engineering practices for architecture, code review, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and releases.
• Protect accuracy of high-stakes workflows (billing, payments, financial reporting) with data migration and auditability.
