Job summary

Signal and Strand seeks a Head of Product Design to lead end-to-end UX and visual design across multiple brands and markets. You will work hands-on to shape design language, build a scalable system, and partner with editorial, advertising, and product leadership.

The role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution, guiding design from concept to production, and collaborating with engineering to ship high-quality experiences at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of UX/product design experience for consumer products.
• Strong portfolio across web and email/marketing designs.
• Experience building or evolving a design system across brands.
• Proven ability to work with engineers from concept to shipped product.
• Experience conducting user research to inform design decisions.
• Ability to work autonomously in a lean, fast-moving org.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility and email rendering constraints.
• Experience as sole/first design hire a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define UX/visual design vision across multiple brands and markets.
• Own end-to-end website design including IA, interaction, and responsive behavior.
• Lead development of email templates and marketing formats.
• Prototype future mobile app concepts and conduct user testing.
• Build and maintain a scalable design system and component library.
• Collaborate with engineering to ship designs and with leaders to align with business goals.
• Hire, mentor, and grow the design team over time.
• Conduct or commission usability testing and ensure accessibility standards.
