Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston is seeking a senior leader to own the process backbone supporting certification across multiple programs in aerospace autonomy. You will lead a team responsible for configuration management, development assurance, process assurance, and software quality reporting to the VP of Airworthiness & Certification.

You’ll build scalable, repeatable frameworks that ensure rigor while moving fast, partnering with engineering, flight test, and customers to certify complex autonomous

Qualifications

• 12+ years in aerospace systems, software or hardware development with CM/PA/DA experience.
• Experience with certification programs DO-178C/DO-254, ARP4754A/B, ARP4761A.
• Knowledge of software/tool qualification DO-330.
• 5+ years leading a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Experience auditing engineering process documentation for regulatory compliance and audits (FAA Stage of Involvement, System Reviews).
• Working knowledge of military airworthiness/civil certification frameworks and standards (SAE EIA-650B, MIL-STD-882E, AS9100D).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers across CM, development assurance, process assurance, and software quality assurance.
• Own configuration management and partner with engineering/flight test leaders to maintain and improve processes.
• Standardize and deploy core engineering processes to support future certification.
• Establish and run a compliance auditing program for policy and guidance alignment.
• Represent process assurance with certification authorities and customer quality stakeholders.
• Serve as primary contact for DCMA and other government QA reps on military programs.
• Drive continuous improvement from audits and lessons learned.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for audit findings.
• Report health and roadmap of processes to the VP of Airworthiness & Certification.
• Build scalable frameworks to stay ahead of growth.
