Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston, MA seeks a senior leader to own configuration management, development assurance, and process assurance for its autonomous aviation programs. You will drive compliance, evidence, and audit readiness across multiple certification efforts and collaborate with certification authorities and flight-test teams.

You will build scalable processes, balance rigor with rapid iteration, and lead a diverse engineering team in a fast-growing startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 12+ years in aerospace systems, software, or hardware development.
• Experience in configuration management and process assurance for certification.
• Direct experience with DO-178C/DO-254 and ARP standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers across configuration management, development assurance, process assurance, and software quality.
• Own configuration management and partner with engineering leaders to sustain development and certification processes.
• Standardize and deploy core processes to support future certification across programs.
• Establish a compliance auditing program for engineering process documents and execution.
• Interact with certification authorities and customer quality to provide evidence of compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement based on audit findings and evolving guidance.
• Lead root-cause analysis to close findings and prevent recurrence.
• Report process health and improvement roadmap to the VP of Airworthiness & Certification.
• Build scalable, repeatable process frameworks for growing engineering needs.
