Job summary

Silco Fire & Security is seeking a Head of PMO in Cincinnati, OH, to establish and lead a high-performing project management office across operations. You will set standards, governance, and metrics to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality delivery for fire and security projects.

You will mentor PMs, drive continuous improvement, and partner with finance and operations to optimize staffing, budgets, and forecasting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • PMP Certification required.
  • 10+ years of progressive project management leadership experience within commercial construction, specialty contracting, or systems integration.
  • 5+ years leading project managers or project management teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a high volume of projects simultaneously.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, project margins, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and continuously improve the Project Management department and team.
  • Develop standardized project management processes, methodologies, templates, and governance across all business units.
  • Establish KPIs to measure project health, profitability, schedule performance, customer satisfaction, and resource utilization.
  • Drive accountability through regular project reviews and executive reporting.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within standards.
  • Monitor schedules, budgets, labor productivity, cash flow, contract compliance, and risk.
  • Identify troubled projects early and develop recovery strategies.
  • Support PMs in resolving complex issues.
  • Improve project profitability through disciplined financial oversight.
  • Review forecasts, cost reports, change orders, billing, and margins.
  • Partner with Finance to improve forecasting accuracy and cash flow.
  • Ensure PMs understand financial expectations and project economics.
  • Partner with Operations to optimize staffing and workload across projects.
  • Develop workforce planning strategies and identify future needs.
  • Implement PM software, dashboards, and reporting tools.

Position Overview:

The Head of Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing project management organization that enables the operations teams to deliver fire and security projects to customers with consistent execution, operational excellence, and profitability across the company. This leader will develop project management standards, implement best practices, oversee project governance, and mentor project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Please note: This is an on-site position located in Cincinnati, OH. We will not be entertaining remote candidates for this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Build, lead, and continuously improve the Project Management department and team.
  • Develop standardized project management processes, methodologies, templates, and governance across all business units.

Project Execution
  • Ensure projects are executed efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor productivity, cash flow, contract compliance, and risk.
  • Identify troubled projects early and develop recovery strategies.
  • Support project managers in resolving complex customer, technical, financial, and contractual issues.
  • Improve project profitability through disciplined financial oversight.
  • Review project forecasts, cost reports, change orders, billing status, and project margins.
  • Partner with Finance to improve forecasting accuracy and cash flow.
  • Ensure project managers understand financial expectations and project economics.
Resource Management
  • Partner with Operations and department leaders to optimize staffing and workload across projects.
  • Develop workforce planning strategies that maximize efficiency while maintaining quality.
  • Identify future staffing needs.
Process Improvement
  • Implement project management software, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Standardize project kickoff, planning, execution, closeout, and lessons-learned processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, communication, documentation, and customer experience.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives where appropriate.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Help recruit, coach, mentor, and develop project managers.
  • Build a culture focused on accountability, communication, and customer service.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in executive customer meetings as needed.
  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • PMP Certification
  • 10+ years of progressive project management leadership experience within commercial construction, specialty contracting, or systems integration.
  • 5+ years leading project managers or project management teams.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a high volume of projects simultaneously.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, project margins, and contract administration.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Preferred
  • Lean Construction or Lean Six Sigma experience.
  • Experience implementing or leading a Project Management Office.
  • Experience with ERP systems, JIRA, construction management software, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel to regional branch locations and customer job sites as needed (approximately 20–30% travel).
  • Ability to occasionally walk active construction sites while complying with all safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in an office environment utilizing standard computer equipment.
