Job summary

Smartsheet is seeking a Manager for People Systems Engineering (remote eligible) to lead the engineering team responsible for the employee technology ecosystem. You will shape the architecture, data strategy, and automation, driving a cohesive platform across Workday, Docebo, and Greenhouse.

You will partner with Product to align roadmaps with business needs, champion API-first design, and advance AI-enabled workflows while improving reliability and security across the employee tech stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise application engineering, HR tech, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of Workday architecture, data model, security, and extensibility.
• Experience defining technical strategy or architecture beyond delivery.
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, observability, and release engineering.
• Knowledge of modern AI capabilities and practical applications in enterprise workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and long-term architecture for the People technology ecosystem, including Workday, Docebo, Greenhouse, integrations, and data.
• Lead and develop the engineering team for Smartsheet’s People platforms with ownership and rigor.
• Partner with Product Manager to translate problems into product and technical roadmaps.
• Define architectural boundaries and determine when to use Workday vs other SaaS or custom solutions.
• Develop a data strategy for People data, including models, contracts, and lineage.
• Drive API-first, event-driven evolution of the ecosystem and AI capabilities.
