Job summary

BACKBONE is seeking a Head of Operation in Vienna to lead and grow the operational organization. You will own end-to-end order fulfillment, manage external production and logistics, and drive KPI-based performance in a fast-growing tech company.

Join a leadership team collaborating with the CEO/CTO, shaping company building, product handover, and scaling while ensuring tight cross-functional alignment across Development, Operations, and Sales.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in IT, Engineering, or Operations, ideally in a leadership role.
• Analytical mindset with a holistic view of complex systems and processes.
• Strategic thinking with hands-on execution and strong stakeholder management.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, confident in managing stakeholders.
• Understanding of IT security, risk management, and compliance.
• High initiative, responsibility, and team orientation.
• Excellent German and English skills; additional languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the operational organization and its development.
• End-to-end ownership of customer order fulfillment from receipt to delivery.
• Establish scalable structures, processes, and responsibilities to support growth.
• Manage and develop external production, supply, and logistics partners.
• Develop Supply Chain, Procurement, and operational controlling.
• Define and manage KPIs, quality standards, budgets, and targets.
• Build and lead an Operations team of ~10 internal and external staff.
• Collaborate with CEO/CTO on company building, product handover, and scaling.
• Optimize interfaces between Development, Operations, Sales, Aftersales, and management.
