Job summary

Atoms is hiring a senior engineer to lead a 6-person observability team in Mountain View. You will own the end-to-end monitoring strategy, drive the roadmap, and partner with engineering managers to reduce time to detect and mitigate production incidents.

You will scale observability as the company expands into new physical domains such as autonomous mining transport. The role is onsite in Mountain View with a strong emphasis on hands-on leadership, architecture, and cost-efficient tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams and owning roadmaps in observability, platform, or infrastructure functions.
• Ability to operate without PM/TPM and independently scope roadmaps and drive execution.
• Familiarity with Go, Azure/Azure Kubernetes, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, with Go experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 6 engineers owning end-to-end observability across the company's infrastructure (logs, metrics, traces, and events).
• Own the roadmap for observability and cost initiative, engaging with engineering managers directly.
• Reduce time to detect and mitigate production incidents across a distributed system (>60 services).
• Extend observability to new physical domains as the company expands into autonomous mining transport.
• Maintain a cost-efficient observability stack and communicate technical state confidently.
• Remain hands-on roughly one third of the time to unblock the team using AI tools for insights.
