Job summary

Virginia Tech in Blacksburg is seeking a Director of Non-Capital Construction to lead a program for projects under $3M and 5,000 SF, coordinating two or more delivery teams and a renovations group.

You will manage design and construction, budgets, schedules, and contracts while aligning with university goals and working closely with Facilities customers. The role requires leadership and mentoring of managers and staff.

Qualifications

• Degree in architecture, engineering, or building construction; OR equivalent experience.
• Significant project management with design/construction knowledge.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction methods.
• Experience in design services and cost negotiation.
• Ability to manage multiple major/minor projects and teams.
• Strong client service in a diverse environment.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead non-capital construction program for projects under $3M and 5,000 SF.
• Manage two or more project delivery teams and a renovations team.
• Oversee contracts, budgets, schedules, and coordination.
• Represent the owner during design/construction processes.
• Mentor and develop managers and supervisors within the unit.
