Job summary

Alaska Communications seeks a Director of Network Infrastructure & Planning to lead end-to-end Layer 1 infrastructure planning, design, and records stewardship. Qualifications

• Ten years of telecommunications engineering/construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Owns end-to-end planning and design accountability for Layer 1 network infrastructure including OSP fiber, ducts, and route planning.
• Manages inside plant infrastructure such as DC power capacity, rack location, and space readiness.
• Ensure Layer 1 plans support reliability, route diversity, resiliency and service delivery.
• Analyze facilities, routes, and capacity to determine augmentation or changes.
• Maintain accurate, accessible network records and documentation.
• Coordinate Layer 1 plans with Layer 2/3 for transport, routing, and capacity strategies.
• Translate strategic architecture into practical infrastructure needs and capital inputs.
• Provide budget inputs and business case support for network projects.
