Job summary

The NC Department of Health and Human Services’ Molecular Epidemiology, Sequencing and Bioinformatics group seeks a Medical Laboratory Supervisor III to manage complex molecular testing and surveillance operations. You will oversee sequencing, bioinformatics workflows, and a multidisciplinary team to support diagnostic testing and epidemiological investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science.
• Four years of experience in a laboratory in the assigned area, two of which are supervisory.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex molecular testing including next-generation sequencing and real-time PCR.
• Direct characterization of agents from clinical, reference, and environmental specimens.
• Oversee bioinformatics workflows and sequencing data analysis.
• Supervise a multidisciplinary team in sequencing operations and molecular surveillance.
• Coordinate QA, staffing, SOP development, and LIMS operations.
• Implement workflows supporting diagnostic testing and epidemiological investigations.
