Job description

OnePoint BFG Wealth Partners Parsippany, New Jersey, United States

At OnePoint BFG Wealth Partners, we are committed to empowering our partner advisors by providing exceptional financial advice and solutions. We believe in having a positive impact on the lives of those around us—our family members, friends, clients, and other members of the community. As a leading RIA firm, we are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, focusing on growth through mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Head of Mergers & Acquisitions to lead the front end of our inorganic growth strategy. This individual will be responsible for building and managing a robust pipeline of prospective acquisition partners by proactively sourcing, networking and engaging financial advisors and RIA owners. This is a relationship-first, top of funnel role focused on originating opportunities. You will serve as the firm’s first point of contact with potential sellers, positioning our platform, establishing trust and qualifying opportunities before handing them off to the internal deal team. Additionally, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the tools, templates, and content necessary to support this process. This role reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer and plays a critical role in achieving the firm’s long‑term growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Sourcing & Engagement:

  • Proactively identify, target, and engage independent financial advisors and RIA owners through outbound outreach, industry networking, referrals, and strategic partnerships. Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified acquisition opportunities aligned with the firm’s growth strategy.

  • Engage with potential acquisition targets, whether sourced or provided through strategic partnerships, to build and nurture relationships, understanding their business, needs, and goals.

  • Lead high-volume, high-quality outreach efforts including cold calling, email campaigns, event follow-up, and direct networking. Maintain disciplined follow-up processes and consistent engagement cadence across the pipeline.

  • Partner and collaborate with Rise Growth to identify and source potential M&A targets, leveraging their network and expertise to support the firm’s growth strategy.

Sales Process Management:

  • Assess strategic fit at a high level and qualify opportunities before transitioning them to internal M&A and leadership teams for deeper diligence and transaction execution. Ensure a seamless and professional handoff process. Assist in initial due diligence, data gathering, and assessing strategic fit via our FIT and ERA analysis.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership and finance, to qualify targets and continually improve our value proposition and pitch deck.

  • Achieve a target of $3 billion in acquisitions each year for the next five years, aligning with the firm’s growth objectives.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, tracking all outreach, interactions, and pipeline progression. Provide regular reporting on activity levels, conversion metrics, and pipeline health to the Chief Strategy Officer. Act as a voice of the market, providing insights on advisor sentiment, competitive dynamics and emerging opportunities. Continuously refine messaging and targeting based on real-time feedback.

Tool & Content Development:

  • Develop and maintain tools, templates, and content used throughout the M&A process, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with best practices.

  • Provide training and support to internal teams on the use of these resources.

Key Values & Skills:

  • Strategic Communication: Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to all stakeholders, fostering understanding and alignment.

  • Building Positive Relationships: Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong, positive relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.

  • Integrity and Honesty: Commitment to acting with transparency and honesty in all dealings, maintaining the highest ethical standards.

  • Negotiation Skills: Expertise in negotiating deals that create win‑win solutions, ensuring that both parties achieve their key objectives.

  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Focused on finding solutions that benefit all parties, ensuring long‑term success and win‑win partnerships.

  • Organization: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Technologically Savvy: Proficiency in CRM systems, financial modeling, and the ability to leverage technology to enhance efficiency and decision‑making.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is a prerequisite. An MBA is preferred.

  • Proven track record of originating deals and building a sales pipeline. Strong understanding of the RIA space, including key challenges and opportunities in the industry.

  • Experience within the RIA, wealth management, or independent advisory industry is critical. This includes familiarity with advisor recruitment, client transition dynamics, and the competitive landscape.

  • The ability to understand advisory practices, team dynamics and what a selling advisor is seeking is a core competency.

  • An understanding of the basic legal and regulatory framework for RIAs and Broker Dealers is necessary to ensure that M&A activities meet all compliance standards, including state and SEC registration requirements.

  • This role requires the ability to conduct market research and evaluate industry trends to identify potential M&A opportunities and stay ahead of the competition.

Why Join Us:
