Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for Media Foundation to lead a team that builds and operates the media infrastructure powering photos, videos, and documents across the platform.

You will set technical strategy, guide architecture across teams, champion reliability and scalability, mentor managers, and partner with Product, Design, Trust, and Infrastructure to deliver high‑quality media experiences. This is a US‑remote eligible role.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of industry experience with 6+ years in engineering management.
• Strong product instinct and communication skills.
• Track record of leading large cross-team initiatives with business impact.
• Excellent leadership and people management capabilities.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems and media infrastructure (ingestion, processing, storage, CDN delivery) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy and architecture for media infrastructure across multiple teams.
• Lead, coach, and grow managers and senior technical leads.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Trust, and infrastructure groups to shape a scalable roadmap.
• Drive engineering excellence, reliability, and reduction of technical debt.
• Hire, retain, and develop diverse, high-performing engineers and managers.
