Role Overview

We are looking for a Head of Marketing to define and execute EssentiallySports’ go-to-market strategy as a modern media brand. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will incept and drive digital brand strategy, original IP development, talent engagement, event planning, and creative campaigns. Your work will directly influence the brand’s halo across platforms, elevate brand recall, and unlock new revenue partnerships.

Key Goals

  • Create a halo effect for the brand across digital platforms and increase brand recall among ES fans
  • Generate earned media moments that build buzz and support sales efforts
  • Position ES as a strategic content partner for brands and agencies
  • Build offline presence with media agencies to enable partnership revenue
  • Integrate branded content across all ES channels

Core Pillars of the Role

1. Digital Brand Strategy

  • Work closely with the existing leadership team to:
  • Define strategies for our main social channels (first point of interaction for fans and marketers)
  • Align brand goals and talent integration across these channels
  • Establish a unique digital tone of voice across all digital assets
  • Conceptualize online fan activations such as watch parties, Twitter shows (potentially with influencers)

2. Original IP Creation

  • Develop referencable IP that drives organic sharing and long-term brand equity
  • Plan a mix of IP formats involving marquee and regular talent
  • Execute both short-term activations and long-form scalable content initiatives
  • Collaborate with marquee names to create exclusive, shareable content
  • Identify and onboard micro-influencers (10K–100K followers) with high growth potential within the ES ecosystem
  • Partner with talent agencies to explore co-branded events

4. Events and Activations

  • Increase ES' offline presence with unique, buzzworthy brand activations
  • Plan and execute tentpole events that reinforce the brand identity and support business goals

5. Creative Campaigns

  • Work with internal teams to design creative brand campaigns
  • Use paid media to amplify campaign reach and effectiveness
  • Drive engagement, earned media, and business outcomes through integrated campaigns

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of marketing experience in media, with a strong focus on digital-first brand building
  • Expert in digital brand strategy, influencer marketing, branded content, and social media
  • Proven ability to develop and scale original IP
  • Experienced in event planning and execution
  • Strong budget and campaign management skills in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Ability to spark earned media moments that support business and sales
  • A proactive self-starter who owns initiatives end-to-end
  • Collaborative, strategic, and solution-oriented
  • Bonus: Prior experience with media agencies, creator networks, or sports talent partnerships
