Job summary

Karman Space & Defense seeks a Director of Manufacturing Engineering in Huntington Beach, CA to lead strategy and execution across all production value streams, driving process capability, problem-solving, NPI readiness, and continuous improvement.

Lead cross-functional teams, ensure AS9100/ISO compliance, optimize throughput, and collaborate with design, operations, quality, programs, and supply chain to deliver on-time, cost-effective launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
• Ten or more years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or complex precision manufacturing.
• Five or more years of leadership experience overseeing technical teams.
• Experience with AS9100 or ISO standards.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, CNC programming, and manufacturing analytics tools.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to optimize manufacturing flow and tooling setups.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing engineering strategy and execution across all production value streams.
• Drive process capability, problem solving, new product introduction readiness, and continuous improvement.
• Guide scalable, high-performance manufacturing systems for safety, productivity, quality, and cost.
• Build cross-functional teams and standardize processes and work instructions.
• Define standard processes, specifications, and work instructions using CI methodologies.
• Coordinate with program management, quality, and supply chain for launches.
