Job summary

The Oregon State University Libraries & Press, Learning & Access Division, seeks a Collections Strategies Unit Manager to provide strategic leadership for the unit and oversee budget and staff. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Unit Head will shape policy and collaborate across divisions to advance the university’s collections strategy.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of progressively responsible collection strategies experience in an academic library.
• Experience leading projects and designing workflows for acquisitions of print and electronic materials.
• Ability to manage projects with data gathering, deadlines, and measuring impact.
• Experience collaborating with library units and the broader university community.
• MLS/MLIS or Master’s Degree in Library Science or a related field.
• Criminal history check may be required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Shapes and implements strategic vision for library collections.
• Leads development of workflows for acquisition/removal of print and electronic materials.
• Oversees the general collection budget with data-informed decisions.
• Convenes Collections Council across divisions and campuses.
• Negotiates contracts with vendors and publishers for access or renewal.
• Collaborates with library units to advance unit goals and strategic plans.
• Participates in Administrative Council for planning, policymaking, and budget projections.
• Directly supervises all employees in the Collections Strategies Unit.
