AXIS is seeking a Head of Reinsurance Liability Claims and Manager of North America Reinsurance Claims Team to join our Global Reinsurance Claims team. This position involves managing a diverse portfolio of property and casualty reinsurance claims and overseeing the North America Reinsurance P&C Claims team. The role reports directly to the Global Head of Reinsurance Claims. The candidate should lead and develop a team of reinsurance claims professionals handling various claims, including Liability, Management Liability, D&O, E&O, EPL, Cyber, Professional Lines, Design Specialties, and Environmental claims. Using data-driven reporting and productivity metrics, this leader will develop the optimal target operating model to deliver best-in-class service and foster career growth within the team. The role also involves engaging with stakeholders, brokers, and insureds to ensure excellent communication and service, distinguishing AXIS claims daily.

This role will lead and develop a team of claims professionals and is responsible for:

• Supervising reinsurance claims, including investigation, analysis, and evaluation of primary coverage, damages, reinsurance liability, and reserves within best practices.

• Leading a team managing various claim types such as Professional Liability, General Liability, Casualty, Marine, Surety, and other specialty lines.

• Providing strategic direction, coaching, and mentoring to ensure professional growth.

• Managing resources, workloads, and processes for efficiency and service quality, including adherence to KPIs.

• Managing costs related to team development, professional designations, conferences, and meetings.

• Engaging with Claims Operations, cedents, brokers, and vendors to identify claims mitigation opportunities and process improvements.

• Identifying liability and coverage issues, developing trends, and formulating management strategies.

• Supporting underwriting inquiries, reporting on claim and loss trends, KPIs, and emerging risks.

• Participating in cedent claim audits, reporting results, and maintaining communication to optimize audit value.

• Staying updated on industry developments, monitoring claim trends, and promoting AXIS's presence at industry events.

• Recruiting, hiring, retaining talent, and developing succession plans.

• Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, brokers, cedents, attorneys, and others.

• Communicating extensively with senior leaders, preparing reports, presentations, and explaining claims data and audit results.

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES

7-10+ years in claims management, especially reinsurance claims, with:

• Leadership, organizational, and management skills.

• A reputation for leadership and technical excellence.

• Ability to influence and collaborate across organizational levels and resolve complex claims.

• Strong analytical skills and data proficiency to drive results.

• Ability to balance immediate claim issues with broader portfolio impacts and customer service.

• Excellent communication skills for dealing with diverse stakeholders and presenting complex data.

• Experience handling various loss scenarios, including CAT losses, with reporting to senior management.

• Deep knowledge of reinsurance claims, contracts, litigation, arbitration, and negotiation.

• Law Degree and bar admission are a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI.

• Willingness to travel for team management, meetings, and industry events.
