Job summary

Harvard University’s Harvard Graduate School of Education seeks a Director of Learning Experience and Design to lead the LXD team, drive strategy for online and hybrid learning, and collaborate with faculty and partners to deliver high-impact professional education.

The role requires five years in instructional design with leadership experience, strong project management, and a commitment to accessibility and innovation in education.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, instructional design, learning science, or related field.
• Minimum five years in instructional design or learning design with at least three years in leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in course design and ID models; experience with LMS (Canvas or comparable).
• Experience with emerging educational technologies, multimedia, and generative AI.
• Proven project management leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
• Cover letter must be supplied with resume as one document.

Responsibilities

• Lead creation and continuous improvement of instructional design standards across the PPE portfolio.
• Translate learning goals into engaging, research-informed experiences with HGSE faculty.
• Oversee online, blended, and on-demand programs for professional educators.
• Integrate innovative learning technologies to enhance engagement and outcomes.
• Administrative leadership of a portfolio of programs and professional development.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication; ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with TLL and other HGSE units to share resources and assets.
