Job summary

Fervo Energy seeks a Director, Internal Audit to design and build the internal audit function from the ground up, guiding the SOX program, risk universe, and independent assurance across financial reporting, IT, OT, and regulatory compliance.

You will partner with the Head of Compliance & Regulatory Programs, the CFO, external auditors, and the Audit Committee to ensure a robust control environment, coordinate co-source providers, and drive ongoing improvement and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA, CIA, or CISA strongly preferred (MBA a plus).
• Experience standing up or rebuilding a SOX program.

Responsibilities

• Build the internal audit function from the ground up with charter and methodology.
• Define enterprise risk universe and multi-year audit roadmap.
• Own SOX program design, testing, and remediation tracking.
• Coordinate with external auditors on scoping and testing.
• Design IT general controls and cybersecurity audits across systems and OT.
• Deliver regulatory and compliance audits (FERC, NERC, etc.).
• Lead and develop a small audit team; report to Audit Committee.
