Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Director of SOX to build and lead a scalable compliance and internal controls program in a highly visible role based in San Jose, CA. You will partner with Finance, IT, and external auditors to strengthen governance, design controls, and drive remediation across the organization.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in SOX, internal controls, or public accounting, with proven experience transforming SOX programs within large complex environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA/CIA/CISA preferred.
• 12+ years in SOX, internal controls, or internal audit.
• Strong knowledge of SOX 404, COSO, ITGCs, and public company controls.
• Proven leadership with cross‑functional teams and executives.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the SOX compliance program, including scoping, risk assessment, control design, testing, remediation, and reporting.
• Establish a scalable internal control framework aligned with regulatory and public company requirements.
• Evaluate processes to identify risks, assess controls, and implement procedures.
• Partner with IT and Security to develop controls over systems, reports, and third‑party providers.
• Develop annual testing strategy and oversee internal and external resources.
• Report program status, risks, deficiencies, and remediation to senior leadership.
• Advise stakeholders on control implications of new systems and processes.
• Promote accountability and strengthen control ownership across the organization.
