Job summary

Pensacola State College invites applications for the Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences. This 12-month administrative role oversees programs, curriculum, schedules, faculty assignments, budgets, and student advising, reporting to the Dean of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Start date Summer 2027, negotiable. Qualified candidates hold a Master’s degree, SACS-COC eligibility to teach in several disciplines, and at least four years of relevant post-secondary teaching or admin

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• SACS-COC qualification to teach in Education, Foreign Language, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science, Anthropology, or Geography.
• Four years of related full-time post-secondary teaching or administrative experience.
• A successful criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the department.
• Supervise all programs offered by the department; hire and supervise adjunct faculty; supervise departmental faculty and staff.
• Develop course schedules, advise students, review and update departmental curricula; manage the departmental budget and assist planning and assessment activities.
