Job summary

McKee Utility Contractors is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Manager to lead the preventive maintenance of a construction fleet, supervise field service crews, and optimize uptime across multiple job sites. You’ll coordinate repairs, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA standards.

The role requires deep hands-on knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, plus experience with OEM diagnostics and CMMS. Driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with supervisory experience.
• Diesel engines, hydraulics, undercarriage systems, and heavy equipment electrical/electronic systems.
• Experience with OEM diagnostic software (Cat ET, John Deere Service Advisor, etc.).
• Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations relevant to construction equipment.
• Experience managing field service operations across multiple/remote job sites.
• CMMS/fleet management software proficiency.
• Budgeting and vendor negotiation skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enforce preventive maintenance programs for heavy equipment based on manufacturer specs and usage hours.
• Manage a team of heavy equipment mechanics/technicians, including field service crews dispatched to job sites.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and breakdowns on active job sites to minimize project delays.
• Oversee fleet inventory — owned, leased, and rented equipment — and make repair-vs-replace decisions.
• Manage relationships with OEM dealers and parts suppliers; track maintenance costs and downtime using fleet/CMMS software.
• Ensure DOT compliance for road-legal equipment and OSHA compliance for job site safety.
