Job summary

Perry Weather in Dallas seeks a Director of Hardware Engineering to own the end-to-end hardware and firmware function. Reporting to the CTO, you will lead our hardware and firmware engineers, own the roadmap, and partner with manufacturing to turn designs into deployed, solar-powered weather stations.

This hands-on leadership role covers design reviews, bench work, and team hiring, with a focus on delivering reliable hardware for outdoor safety systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware or embedded engineering with 3+ years leading engineers.
• Experience shipping physical products from design to production with a contract manufacturer.
• Ability to review both electrical and firmware work and earn respect of the team.
• Proven track record in field reliability and design-for-manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and firmware engineers and hire strong capabilities.
• Own hardware/firmware roadmap, phase gates, and schedules.
• Manage firmware releases across the deployed fleet and ensure smooth rollouts.
• Improve field reliability and loop feedback into design and manufacturing.
