Job summary

Perry Weather is seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering to own the end‑to‑end hardware and firmware function. You will lead hardware and firmware engineers, define the roadmap, and partner with manufacturing to deploy units in the field.

This hands‑on leadership role focuses on building a scalable device business with strong engineering depth. You will drive design reviews, set standards, and hire the team to scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in hardware or embedded engineering with direct leadership experience.
• Shipped physical products from design to mass production with a contract manufacturer.
• Ability to review both hardware and firmware and earn team respect.
• Proven track record improving field reliability and driving design changes.
• DFM/DFT mindset with cost and yield awareness; strong manufacturing collaboration.
• Experience with Embedded Linux, OTA updates, and secure device practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and firmware engineers; hire well and set engineering standards.
• Own hardware/firmware roadmap, phase gates, and schedules with clear commitments.
• Oversee firmware releases across deployed fleet and field rollout processes.
• Own field reliability metrics and close feedback loop into design and firmware.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, product, and software teams to align roadmaps.
• Drive diagnostics, observability, and AI-assisted verification for devices.
