Job summary

University of Washington’s Strategic Communications team seeks a Head of Harborview Medical Center Communications to lead HMC communications strategy and partner with the HMC CEO for clear, timely messaging at a world-class academic health center.

The role emphasizes strategic leadership, change management and collaboration with UW Medical Center Communications to advance equity and integrity across all communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• Five years of progressive responsibility in communications leadership.
• Supervisory experience, preferably of writers.
• Experience in communications planning and project management for large-scale projects.
• Experience editing and ensuring high-quality, accurate deliverables.
• Experience as a communications chief of staff to a high level executive.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a high-level communications strategist for HMC, guiding leadership decisions and strategy.
• Partner with the HMC CEO as a communications chief of staff and represent the CEO in forums.
• Lead hospital-wide communications planning and align efforts with UW Strategic Communications peers.
• Edit and supervise the work of writers and content contributors for HMC.
• Develop messaging and materials for the HMC Board, King County Council, employees and communities.
• Support urgent issues outside regular hours as needed; collaborate across teams.
