Job summary

Brobston Group, a growing contemporary womenswear company, seeks a Director of General Accounting to lead month-end close and strengthen the accounting team in Secaucus. This hybrid role offers exposure to store and e-commerce growth, international operations, and licensing, with regular NYC visits.

You will own the close, develop the team, manage intercompany and currency transactions, and drive process improvements. CPA preferred with multi-entity and ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting; CPA preferred.
• Experience with month-end closes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience in multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
• Experience in high-volume direct-to-consumer retail or ecommerce; fashion/retail background welcome.
• Ability to lead an accounting team and improve processes.
• Strong communication; translate analysis into insights.
• Experience with NetSuite or Blue Cherry is a plus.
• Willingness to work in Secaucus office at least 3 days a week and NYC visit monthly.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, close calendar, journal entries, reconciliations, GL analysis and reporting.
• Lead and develop the general accounting team with clear ownership and accountability.
• Oversee intercompany activity, foreign currency transactions, and high-volume DTC retail/e-commerce sales.
• Improve accounting policies, internal controls, reporting tools and the chart of accounts.
• Identify opportunities to automate, including a new accounts payable platform implementation.
• Partner with finance leadership on budget/forecast, audits, tax returns, and corporate reporting; summarize findings for stakeholders.
