Job description

About Bidgely

Bidgely is an AI power pioneer transforming the future of clean energy. As a global SaaS leader, we harness advanced artificial intelligence to empower utilities and energy providers around the globe to make hyper-intelligent, data-driven decisions. From revolutionizing customer engagement and accelerating widespread electrification to optimizing distributed energy resources and reimagining modern grid planning, Bidgely is at the forefront of the global energy transition.

We are stepping into an exhilarating era of hyper-scale growth where finance acts as a key catalyst—driving disciplined expansion, sharpening strategic predictability, elevating operational controls, and turning complex commercial data into high-impact business breakthroughs.

The opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on, commercially minded SVP of Finance to lead the finance function through its next stage of growth. This person will own the company’s financial operating system end to end—from planning, forecasting, cash management, and executive reporting through accounting oversight, audit, tax, controls, systems, and team development.

This is not a purely accounting or reporting role. The successful candidate will combine executive judgment with operating depth, move comfortably between a board discussion and a detailed model, and help the company make better decisions about growth, pricing, hiring, product investment, customer profitability, and capital allocation.

The SVP of Finance will report to the CEO, and partner closely with executive leadership, the Board, investors, auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and leaders across Revenue, Customer Success, Delivery, Product, Engineering, People Operations, and Legal.

What you’ll own
Financial strategy and business partnership
  • Translate company strategy into rigorous financial plans, resource-allocation recommendations, and measurable operating priorities.

  • Serve as a trusted financial partner to the CEO and executive team, providing clear points of view on risks, opportunities, tradeoffs, and capital deployment.

  • Partner with functional leaders to improve financial discipline, accountability, and decision quality across the business.

  • Bring finance into product, pricing, delivery, customer, market-expansion, and organizational decisions early—not after the fact.

  • Manage banking and venture debt facilities, debt covenants, capital structure, and investor relationships alongside the CEO

Planning, forecasting, and performance management
  • Own and continuously improve an integrated three‑statement operating model.

  • Lead the annual planning process, rolling forecasts, scenario modeling, and long‑range planning across the company and its international entities.

  • Establish a reliable operating cadence for budget-versus-actuals reporting, forecast updates, and executive commentary.

  • Define and maintain consistent SaaS and operating metrics, including ARR/CARR, retention, churn and contraction, CAC and payback, gross margin, cash burn, runway, and Rule of 40 measures as appropriate.

  • Build decision‑useful analysis of revenue, pipeline, implementation timing, customer profitability, product and regional performance, headcount, pricing, commissions, and operating expenses.

  • Improve the flow of information from CRM, implementation, accounting, payroll, and operating systems into finance reporting and forecasts.

Board, investor, and executive reporting
  • Prepare accurate, concise, and insight-rich monthly financial packages and quarterly Board materials.

  • Explain not only what changed, but why it changed, what it means, and what management should do next.

  • Support investor reporting, fundraising processes, lender or banking relationships, and diligence activities as needed.

  • Maintain a high standard of consistency, reconciliation, and auditability in all externally shared financial information.

  • Prepare board approval packages for company-wide equity grants, options administration, and executive compensation.

Accounting, controllership, and compliance oversight
  • Provide executive oversight of the global accounting function and outsourced accounting partners.

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and consolidation‑ready monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

  • Oversee revenue recognition, technical accounting, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, equity accounting, and other complex accounting matters.

  • Lead the external audit and coordinate tax, statutory, sales‑tax, international‑tax, and other compliance activities across relevant jurisdictions.

  • Manage intercompany transfer pricing models, foreign exchange exposure, and cross‑border tax compliance across US and international entities (including India

  • Establish clear ownership, calendars, documentation, and escalation paths for recurring finance activities.

  • Build a control environment appropriate for a scaling, globally distributed SaaS company, with particular attention to cash, revenue, payroll, commissions, approvals, and data integrity.

Cash, treasury, collections, and risk
  • Own cash visibility, liquidity planning, treasury relationships, and rolling cash‑flow forecasting.

  • Partner with Revenue and Accounting to manage commercial terms, improve invoicing discipline, collections cadence, DSO, and renewal visibility.

  • Review significant contracts, commercial terms, commitments, insurance, financing, and other financial‑risk matters.

  • Make sure financial risks are identified early, quantified clearly, and assigned to accountable owners.

Compensation, payroll, and expense governance
  • Provide financial governance over payroll, incentive compensation, commissions, headcount planning, benefits economics, employee expenses, and procurement controls.

  • Partner with People Operations and Revenue Operations to ensure compensation decisions are documented, policy‑aligned, accurately modeled, and processed on time.

  • Maintain auditable approval and review processes for commissions and other variable compensation.

  • Reinforce consistent policy application while helping the business move quickly within approved guardrails.

Finance systems and scale
  • Define and lead the finance systems roadmap, including ERP, FP&A, reporting, expense, headcount, and data‑integrity capabilities.

  • Prefer to have worked on and possibly implemented scaled accounting and FP&A software.

  • Reduce manual work, evaluate when to automate, when to standardize, and when to add internal or external capacity.

  • Build repeatable workflows that remain effective as the company grows.

Team leadership
  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing finance organization spanning strategic finance, accounting, controllership, and finance operations.

  • Clarify the division of responsibility among internal team members, outsourced partners, and cross‑functional owners.

  • Hire as needed and develop the team who can own accounting, FP&A, finance systems, and international finance as the company scales.

  • Create a culture of accuracy, accountability, thoughtful challenge, service, and continuous improvement.

What success looks like
In the first 90 days
  • Build trusted relationships with the CEO, executive team, Board‑facing stakeholders, finance team, and key external partners.

  • Assess the financial model, reporting package, close process, cash position, control environment, systems roadmap, and finance‑team structure.

  • Establish a clear calendar and ownership model for close, forecasting, payroll and commissions, audit, tax, investor reporting, Board reporting, and planning.

  • Identify the highest‑risk gaps and highest‑return improvements, with an actionable roadmap and owners.

  • Validate the company’s core SaaS metrics, revenue forecast, cash runway, headcount plan, and major assumptions.

Over the first year
  • Deliver a more decision‑useful finance cadence.

  • Improve forecast accuracy and unit‑economics insight.

  • Strengthen audit readiness, accounting controls, policy adherence, and cross‑functional accountability.

  • Make finance systems and processes more scalable and less dependent on manual intervention.

  • Build the team and operating model needed to support growth without sacrificing rigor.

  • Drive major AI adoption across finance workflows to make the function significantly more dynamic, automated, and efficient.

What we’re looking for
  • Senior finance leadership experience in a growth‑stage, venture‑backed, or otherwise complex technology company.

  • Strong experience across both strategic finance and accounting/controllership; neither side can be delegated away entirely.

  • Direct experience with B2B SaaS, enterprise software, or another business with long sales cycles, high contract values, implementation complexity, and recurring or multi‑year revenue.

  • Demonstrated experience with mergers and acquisitions from both sides of the transaction, including acquiring companies and navigating the acquisition of a company by another organization. Strong understanding of and experience with financial due diligence, transaction structuring, valuation, and post‑acquisition integration.

  • Deep experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition for complex multi‑element enterprise SaaS deals involving professional services, implementation delays, and multi‑year contract structures

  • Demonstrated ability to build or substantially improve three‑statement models, operating plans, forecasts, cash‑flow models, and executive reporting.

  • Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, revenue mechanics, deferred revenue, customer profitability, gross margin, and unit economics.

  • Experience working with Boards, investors, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and external service providers.

  • Experience managing global or multi‑entity finance operations and working across U.S. and international compliance environments.

  • A track record of designing practical controls and processes that improve accuracy without making the business unnecessarily slow.

  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets capability and strong comfort working across CRM, ERP, payroll, expense, and reporting systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain complex financial issues in clear executive language.

  • The judgment and confidence to challenge assumptions respectfully, make decisions with incomplete information, and escalate issues early.

  • A builder’s mindset: you enjoy creating structure, improving systems, and leaving the organization stronger than you found it.

  • Experience operating in a company scaled above $50 M ARR, preferably exceeding $100 M ARR.

  • Proven track record of delivering on budget as a primary responsibility, navigating long sales cycles, lumpy revenue, SaaS metrics, tight spend management, and EBITDA targets.

  • Strong experience and enthusiasm for leveraging AI‑driven finance tools, automation, and modern financial technologies to scale operations efficiently.

A CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification is welcome, but practical leadership range, judgment, and demonstrated results are more important than credentials alone.

This role may not be the right fit if
  • Your experience is primarily limited to historical reporting without meaningful ownership of planning, forecasting, cash, or business decisions.

  • You are strongest in accounting but have not operated in a complex B2B or enterprise SaaS environment.

  • You prefer fully staffed, mature environments with little ambiguity or hands‑on execution.

  • You rely on templated models and reports rather than building driver‑based analysis from first principles.

  • You are uncomfortable pushing back on senior stakeholders or communicating difficult financial realities.

  • You view controls and policy as Finance‑only responsibilities rather than a cross‑functional operating discipline.

Why Bidgely
  • Work on technology that supports a more intelligent and efficient energy system.

  • Partner directly with senior leaders on decisions that shape growth, profitability, and company scale.

  • Build the next version of a global finance function rather than inherit a finished one.

  • Work with a distributed team across North America, Europe, India, and the Middle East.

  • Have visible impact across strategy, operations, systems, and organizational development.
