Head of Finance | Venture Capital | New York
Run the business side of a respected venture firm, and help shape its next chapter.
We’re working with a well-regarded venture capital firm in New York. The team is lean and the platform is growing, with multiple funds, SPVs and co-investments.
They’re hiring a Head of Finance to lead finance, operations and investor relations across the firm and its funds. You’ll report directly to the Managing Partners and work as their right hand. This is not a back-office role. You’ll be the person the partners call before they make a decision, and a trusted point of contact for the firm’s LPs.
Why this role
- A seat at the table. You’ll work directly with the Managing Partners on fund strategy, firm economics, fundraising and growth.
- A face to investors. You’ll own LP relationships and communications alongside the partners.
- A platform that’s growing. Several funds, SPVs and co-investments give you real scope to own, without the bureaucracy of a large firm.
- Room to build. You’ll shape how the firm operates as it scales: processes, systems, reporting and, over time, the team.
- Real alignment. Competitive base salary, plus carried interest on offer for the right person.
What you’ll own
Strategy and investor relations
- Partner with the Managing Partners on firm strategy, fund planning and management company economics
- Lead investor relations: quarterly LP updates, annual meeting materials, LP queries and relationship management
- Drive fundraising support, from data rooms and due diligence questionnaires to fund formation and closings
- Bring insight to the partnership on portfolio performance, fund metrics and capital planning
Finance and operations
- Run day-to-day finance and operations across the funds, SPVs, co-investments and management company
- Manage capital calls, distributions, cash and the firm’s budget
- Oversee the fund administrator, auditors, tax advisers and outside counsel so everything runs smoothly and on time
- Coordinate quarterly valuations and reporting with the investment team
- Own compliance and regulatory filings, working with outside counsel
- Find better ways of working, from tools and automation to vendor set-up, and build out a small team as the firm grows
What you’ll bring
- 10+ years in finance and operations, with meaningful time in-house at a VC, PE or investment firm
- Experience running fund operations across several vehicles, ideally including SPVs or co-investments
- Direct exposure to LPs, investor reporting or fundraising
- A strategic mindset paired with a hands‑on, roll‑up-your‑sleeves approach
- Strong communication skills and the presence to advise partners and represent the firm with investors
- A genuine interest in venture capital and early‑stage companies
