Job summary

The Phillips Collection seeks a Director of Events to lead its Advancement events program, including the annual Gala and donor‑facing activities, collaborating with the Chief Advancement Officer to meet fundraising and branding goals.

With 5–7+ years in nonprofit or hospitality events, you will steward committees, manage budgets, and ensure flawless production from concept to completion, including on‑site support for Gala nights and occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of events experience in nonprofit or hospitality sectors.
• College degree or equivalent experience is required.
• ABRA license and knowledge of DC liquor laws preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual Gala fundraising program with cross‑department collaboration.
• Design event themes, lead committees, and manage vendor relationships.
• Oversee event timelines, budgets, production, and post‑event follow‑up.
• Collaborate with Advancement, Operations, Security, and Arts teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and local regulations.
• Coordinate VIP entertainment, invitations, media, and donor stewardship.
• Provide on‑site leadership for events, including Gala nights and travel as needed.
• Support cross‑department strategies to nurture major gifts and donors.
