Job summary

The World Bank Group is seeking a Manager to lead its Environmental and Social (E&S) Risk Management unit within the CRO's E&S risk oversight. The role oversees a team of specialists and manages E&S risk across the portfolio to improve performance and ensure compliance with WBG policies.

With advanced degree and 12+ years international experience, you will engage regional teams, address complaints and ensure accountability, while guiding strategic leadership and policy alignment across WBG

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in environmental science or related field is required.
• At least 12 years of international experience in public/private/multilateral finance with focus on environmental and social management.
• Experience managing environmental or social risks on complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
• Leadership and people management in large, diverse organizations.
• Ability to provide intellectual leadership and mentor colleagues.
• Knowledge of WBG markets including FCS and IDA.
• Proficiency in written, verbal, and public speaking; ability to represent WBG.
• Willingness to travel.
• Compliance with WBG managerial selection criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead the E&S Risk Management team and oversee staff performance.
• Oversee environmental and social risk management across the portfolio.
• Engage with regional teams to address high-risk situations.
• Clear/manage responses to CAO and Inspection Panel cases.
• Provide strategic leadership to align with WBG policies.
